What is Dialysis?
Dialysis is a life-saving treatment for people whose kidneys are not working normally.
When you have kidney failure, your kidneys don't filter blood the way they should. As a result, wastes and toxins build up in your bloodstream. Common wastes include nitrogen wastes like urea, muscle wastes like creatine, and acids. These substances normally leave your body when you urinate.
Dialysis does the work of your kidneys by removing waste products and excess fluids from your body, helping to maintain proper balance of electrolytes and blood pressure.
